Chino Nwinyinya ACB MMA Champion

Chino Nwinyinya trains like a champion and is aiming to get closer to becoming a champion at ACB 5. There he fights Koko Toychev in what looks a great fight. Chino took some time out to answer some of my questions.

Hi Chino, thanks for taking the time to do this. Can you tell people a little about yourself?

“I’m Chino Nwinyinya, 20 years of age and train out of the MMA academy. I have been training under Jason Tan for the past year and a half. My MMA record is MMA record 5-3″.

You are fighting at ACB 5 in March. Who is your opponent and how much do you know about him?

“My opponent is Koko Toychev and from what I know he likes to come forward and has a good ground game as well”.

What do you see as your best weapon in this fight?

“I would say my best weapon in a fight is my diversity and the fact that I can adapt to any situation, whether it’s standing or on the ground”.

How is your training going? Is there anything you’ve had to change for this fight?

“Everything is going great in this camp and no I haven’t changed anything. I just train hard and bring my A game to the fight”.

Have you fought at ACB before? if yes how was the experience?

“Yes I have fought at ACB before, two times infact. The first time was against Dalton Thorne which I thought I won and most thought I won but lost it to a split decision. But in the rematch I won once again”.

I will never experience getting into the cage and fighting. And for that I have so much respect for everyone who does it. What’s the feeling like when the cage door is shut and it’s just you and your opponent?

“When I enter the cage, to be honest, I’m not fazed because I have put all the work in the gym and the guys I train with are all at a high level. So it gives me confidence when I enter the cage”.

How did you first get into Mixed Martial Arts?

“I start doing a bit of boxing which was nothing serious and then just decided to throw myself into a MMA fight and it all started there”.

What do you find as the most challenging aspect of MMA?

”I would say the dieting because it can be draining, mentally and physically”.

What is your favourite martial art to train?

“I would have to say BJJ”.

What is the best thing about fighting and what motivates you to?

“Getting your hand raised, then knowing all your hard work has paid off and the competition motivates me. I just want to try and be the best”.

What’s is the biggest piece of advice you have ever received?

“If you want to be a champion, you’ve got to start training like one”.

Thanks again for taking the time. Anybody you’d like to thank?

“I would like to thank all my coaches and team mates. Also my sponsor USC who have played a big part in my training”.
